Younger Visitors
The Junior Forest Ranger (JFR) program is an exciting way for young people to explore their national forests and grasslands. The JFR program uses Forest Service science and practices to encourage children 7 – 13 to enjoy and appreciate nature. JFR motivates children to explore the natural and cultural world, and embrace their responsibility to it. Volunteers may hand out provided worksheets, which vary by age, to children, that when completed, can be exchanged for a sticker and a junior ranger certificate.
Every Kid Outdoors
Every Kid Outdoors is a federal public lands partnership created to inspire fourth-grade students and their families across America to recreate, explore cultures, discover connections to nature and spark a lifelong passion for America’s great outdoors. The program focuses on children ages 9-11 who, research shows, are beginning to understand the world around them and are uniquely receptive to engaging with nature and the environment.
